Toren at 8 Months

Umm, so I typed up this entry a while ago, but forgot to post it. I do realize he's just about to turn 9 months at this point...

At 8 months, Toren continues to be a fun little guy though not the best sleeper of late. After several nights of sleeping through the night and thinking that we had finally turned a corner, Toren seems to have moved backwards this month, due to teething issues, developmental issues, and now a cold. There have been a few occasions this past month when we've even had to allow him to sleep in our bed in hopes of getting some sleep for ourselves, something we haven't done since he was a newborn. He's still working on his top two teeth and perhaps more which have been causing him a bit of pain.

Little Tor Tor appears to be on the verge of crawling, but seems to be quite frustrated that he can't quite do it and get to the things he wants yet and I think this is also affecting his sleep. He can get around a bit by rolling around or pushing himself backwards on his stomach. We've realized it will soon be time to start making the house a bit more baby friendly which will take a bit of work. Toren has also started to use a few signs, milk and eat, though he frequently uses the milk sign if he wants an object.

One of our favorite activities with Tor Tor of late has been bath time. We recently had a plumber friend fix our tub so that it holds water so that he can take a real bath instead of in his plastic tubby. We've (well usually me, except Justin stands in on the nights I have class) started taking baths with him and he loves it just as much as we do. It's a great way for both Toren and I to unwind in the evenings and to get some quality time together. The only draw back is that now of course he doesn't really like to take baths by himself.

I continue to stay overly busy with work, classes, and trying to find time to hang with Tor Tor. I've also started the process of putting my resume out for possible job opportunities. My current position will be coming to a close at the end of August and given the state of the current economy, I decided that I need to get into the job hunt earlier than later. It's a little nerve racking knowing my position will be coming to an end, but I'm hoping this means that I'll be moving on to bigger and better things.

I'm so bummed we weren't able to meet Toren yesterday :( Sounds like you guys are having fun, though. He is super cute, I love the red hair. Good luck on your first flight and have fun in FL....we go at the end of March and it can't come soon enough!!
